Working with the roborio after kickoff.

Hey everyone,

I was hoping that someone who really knows their stuff could explain how teams can make their roborio's useable ASAP after kickoff. I know there is going to be a software release of some sort, but has FIRST released detailed instructions for teams yet?

Or...

Does no one outside of FIRST know this information and we are going to find out on saturday?

Thanks for the help.

AFAIK, no instructions on how to image and setup the roboRIO have been released yet, but FIRST released instructions for setting up the generic development environment in Eclipse (for C++ and Java), along with the encrypted zip that contains the Driver Station and other tools.

Re: Working with the roborio after kickoff.

I looked at this before when I was looking through team 2168's persentation but now when I go to the link (https://wpilib.screenstepslive.com/s...orio-java-only) a login is required.
If I recall correctly they must be updating it because all it has was instructions on how to flash the roboRIO and how to navigate the control panel to update the settings.

Re: Working with the roborio after kickoff.

ni.com/frc has the DVD that can be downloaded now, and it states that the update will be put up tomorrow. I'm out of town and don't know the actual details.

I suspect the other download sites will update at the same time.

Re: Working with the roborio after kickoff.

The attached presentation talks about the imaging for the RoboRIO that the beta teams had to do. Of course, they may have smoothed things out for kickoff. But, if you run into any questions, you can message me at:

And we'll try to provide as much guidance as possible.

HTH,

Mike

Re: Working with the roborio after kickoff.

http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...hreadid=131858

Contains some additional downloads that I was unable to find for my previous post.

To answer the original question, install the development tools and/or updates.
Plug the roboRIO into a Windows laptop using a USB cable.
Use the roboRIO imaging tool to update it to the latest image.
You will also want to image radio, potentially camera, PDP, PCM, etc.

It really isn't that different from previous years.

I'd recommend following a tutorial on Screensteps or in the LabVIEW Getting Started page if you aren't very familiar with the tools.
