Games played

Do you think that each regional should have the same amont of games played. Just because a regional has only a small amount of teams signed up why should they get to play more games.
If one regional has 35 teams signed up they get to play " and practice " more games than at a regional that has 60 teams.
Is it fair.

I think it's prefectly fair. Not everyone can go a billion miles to get to a reginal with lesser teams. Besdies, we seemd to do fine last year in UTC and there was a lot of teams...

Yes the way I think FIRST does it correct me if I'm wrong they just set up the exact same number of matches for each regional and then put all the teams in equally because they have the same amount of time for each regional they're not going to make one group sit around while they could be playing more and they're not going to change the scheduale to make it so long to accomodate the larger regionals. Wow I'm really terrible at typing online I just make a huge runon paragraph. Oh well

Yeah and I don't recall ever hearing about people complaining, so perhaps no one thinks that way? The majority anyways...

There's already teams that goto more competitions than other teams, so i don't think it matters. For example, our team will be competing against a few other teams this weekend that have already had 3 more days than us to practice and work on their robot. I'm not complaining -- just saying that the # of matches isn't going to make any difference, when there are teams that goto many regionals anyway.

it's not necessarily any easier at a smaller regional.. at UTC we had a decent amount of time between matches... in LongIsland we were lucky to get more than 10mins from off the field to playing again.. it gives you less time to sit and think about how to change the dynamics.. talk over improvements with drivers.. and fix anything that breaks...

Both have their advantages and disadvantages.. but as Pat said.. you can't stop teams from going to multiple regionals.. so any plan like that would be somewhat foiled.. and it would also cut some very SHORT days in the smaller competitions.... would that mean you would have that much more pit time????

FIRST can only go far to gaurantee a fairness to all teams. if i think about it, many other teams get a lot more than other (us an example) and still we just try to manage.

if your team chooses to go to a competitive regional, one with plenty teams, then your team chose to slug it out with the champions, the veterans, the top performers. otherwise, if you want more practice and perhaps be the better bot from the rest, maybe a rookie regional is for you?

also, teams who pay more get more practice .....is this fair? or does money buy everything...? ahh, a whole philosophy is unfolding.

rules and laws always protect us, but can also sometimes be limiting. there are times people use it to their advantage. but no matter what we do, the law is there and sometimes we cant change it to fit our needs.
