Rules I can't find
I'm not exactly sure where to look in the manual for where I would find rules on what we can and cannot do with Joysticks and Gamepads. I know a team last year correct me if I am wrong designed and made their own interface for controlling the robot it was like a classic Arcade box with buttons and a joystick it looked really cool. In regards to making a device to control the robot where would I find rules on what you can and cannot do?
I promise I don't want the Wii U gamepad as the controller I swear... |

Re: Rules I can't find
That is what I am looking at and according to it the sky is the limit on how you control the robot considering the regulation found throughout the rest of the rules I find that interesting to say the least.
So I am not allowed to touch the operator console but is that to say I am not allowed any feedback at all from the operator console during auton? If I want to put a motor on the operator console do all motors have to be in compliance with the rules that are used for the robot? I'ma be honest, what I don't know and what I can't find scares me. That along with spiders and commitment but I'm not worried about finding a Brown Recluse with a wedding ring on the field... |

Re: Rules I can't find
Don't ask too many questions. Just build it, so it doesn't violate the rules that are already published. There are restrictions on motors and lots of other materials on the robot, but notice that there are no materials restrictions on what you can use to build the console.
Have fun, be sure to show us what you come up with sometime. |

Re: Rules I can't find
I have seen one team use a 20 inch monitor powered by a lithium battery as part of their driver station (the power plug wasn't available at the time). There isn't much in the way of rules for them.

I don't think this is the right thread for that kind of feedback. Also there is a thread comparing this to reddit out there brb

Re: Rules I can't find
What are the specs for team Numbers? Do they need to be on the robot? With no bumpers this year, what are the requitements?

Re: Rules I can't find
Please read the Robot rules again, there is a rule specifically about how to put the Team Number on the robot. Sorry I don't remember the number...but I'm sure you can find it, if you look. you might even be able to search the Game Manual for Team Number or something.

Re: Rules I can't find
The only caution and major difference this year from the past two is that the use of the Kinect or the computer camera to receive input from a driver/human player is not allowed this year.
No input can be received by the operator interface which is would be translated into a change in the actions of the robot during autonomous. We are back to the old ways..... auto is truly auto. I like it... |

Re: Rules I can't find
Also G21.
In summary, it has to fit on the shelf and you can't interface with it in any way in auton. Beyond that, sky's the limit. Per Q&A, possibly literally. |
