What does your team number mean to you?

Most people in FRC understand what the team numbers are for but for a lot of people new to FIRST, it needs some explaining. Our media team made this fantastic video for explaining what 4522 means:

http://youtu.be/qbek8sCeKJo

To us 4522 is so much more than a number. What cool things does your team do with your team number?

we try not to use our team number all over the place due to the immaturity of many people.

For Bovine Intervention of Linganore High School it means. You can put your bumbers on upside down. Still having a real number; not looking like a fool. Go 686. Thank You very much please. God Bless. Mentor Mac

Re: What does your team number mean to you?

Our high school, glenelg, matches the palindrome of 888, and when we are in the pits next to 686 and 1111 at the Chesapeake regional, we can't get away from all the symmetry!

You think you have a problem with bumpers going on upside down... We can't tell which of our 8s for our robot our robot this year is which, never mind whether they are on upside down or not.
Every year we must label our bumpers passenger and driver side, front and back, and signify which direction is up. At least a 7 segment display template makes for easy painting our number on our bumpers.

I've oddly never heard those terms applied to FRC robots. Right/left and starboard/port, but never passenger-side/driver-side.

Re: What does your team number mean to you?

2992 is palindromic, so we often say "two nine nine two" as opposed to how most announcers say "twenty nine ninety two".

When we started an FTC team this year, we were pretty excited to get 8991, because the two "nine"'s are the most stressed syllables in both of our numbers.

Also, I measure the arbitrary worth of a number in mathematics with the lovely website oeis.org.

2992 has 192 entries
1114 has 287 entries
254 has 2430 entries
118 has 6465 entries

Yeah, the method's kinda biased towards lower numbers...

Re: What does your team number mean to you?

In FRC the 1640 is the AM station for most of the PA turnpike traffic radio. Lots of "Listen to 1640" signs across the state.

I was pretty impressed that the entry of just 1640 in Google brought up the website in the first 6 links. Pretty cool that Google knows where 1640 ranks!

When I was in high school I weighed 144.4lbs during the build season one year. I also get excited at 2:44PM everyday.

Re: What does your team number mean to you?

My team meets from 6pm-9pm on weekdays. We have incorporated 839 into when we should start cleaning up. So at 8:39 one of the students goes into a central location and screams ITS ROSIE TIME! But 839 means more than that.
