Women in Technology Workshop

Team 868 is proud to announce that we are launching our first Women in Technology Workshop this fall!

Women continue to face underrepresentation in STEM fields across the board, consisting of less than 20% of engineers and computer scientists in the US. Our goal is to expose girls in grades 6-8 to a variety of technology-focused classes and seminars to increase interest in STEM.

The program will feature coding, CAD, team-building, entrepreneurship, and conclude with a panel discussion from women in STEM fields.

Great idea. I wish you success and would like to hear how this turns out.

There is a Girls-in-gear Girl Scout program which may provide a good model.

Also Girls Exploring Tomorrow's Technology (GETT). I think this is mostly a local (for us) organization/event. https://www.facebook.com/gettpa

Awesome that you folks are doing this.
Is this training purely done in house or do you have an expert external trainer conducting the workshop? Just curious as to who.

Re: Women in Technology Workshop

For our CAD session, we are developing our own curriculum and training several female TechHOUNDS to be instructors.

For our computer science session, we are partnering with the local 1150 Coding Academy and will be having a mix of TechHOUNDS and professional computer scientists doing the teaching.
