Team Math
This thread is intended completely to be fun and recreational, as well as (hopefully) stimulating.
Try to formulate an equation using team names in place of their respective numbers. For example, using my old team (135), we could say: HOT + Truck Town = Penn (67 + 68 = 135) Obviously, this is a simple equation. Try to use as many different teams as possible (without repeats). Try perhaps using only the teams in your region, or only HOF teams. The possibilities are endless. Whoever can use the greatest number of unique teams in their equation "wins". |

Kind of unrelated, but this thread reminded me of it: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...d.php?p=769676

Re: Team Math
I'm not sure about my team yet, but for yours the max seems to be 13, and there are 169 ways to do it. Here's one:
1 4 5 6 7 8 10 11 13 14 15 16 25 |

Re: Team Math
This is assuming only addition. If you are creative there are probably ways to involve any other operations. One I thought of early on was to use cube root of Rush/27 to get 3 since team 3 hasn't existed for a long time.

Re: Team Math
Fun fact: if you add up the team numbers of the 2014 to 2005 hall of fame teams, you get 5000.

858 (Demons) - 1 (The Juggernauts) = 857 (Superior Roboworks) [And we're all from Michigan]

Re: Team Math
alrighty, I decided to start with my team, then try to get back to it, using only active teams (except for team 10 at the end- I was getting bored and cheated a bit)
2046-1986=60 (Bionic Bulldogs) 60x4 (4ELEMENT)= 240 (Tempest) 240x16=3840 (Teens 'Nto Technology) 3840/20 (the Rocketeers)= 192 (GRT) 192+1114=1306 (BadgerBots) 1306+753 (High Desert Droids)= 2059 (the Hitchhikers) 2059+8 (Team 8)= 2067 (Apple Pi) 2067-11 (MORT)=2056 2056-10 (Red Knights)=2046 |

Re: Team Math
Not quite the same, but it reminds me of something I did during build season. It started one day when someone asked how many days we had until bag and tag, and someone else replied "16--hey, that's Bomb Squad!" I thought that was interesting, and created a countdown from 16 to Juggernauts (1). Some numbers were just team names by themselves (e.g. MORT (11)) but others were simple team equations (e.g. Citrus Circuits - Pascack PI-oneers (1678 - 1676 = 2)).
We left it on the whiteboard until we ran out of room, and for a while I kept getting asked what my "weird list" was. For some reason whenever I explained it was a countdown to bag and tag using team numbers everyone thought I was crazy... |

Re: Team Math
I made one with some very good teams:
Cheesy Poofs * Killer Bees + Citrus Circuits - OP robotics - Titanium - Skunk Works + Robowranglers + The HOT team + Highrollers - Simbotics - Team Appreciate + Wave Robotics =......4481 ![]() (254*33+1678-2056-1986-1983+148+67+987-1114-2468+2826=4481) |

118 + 1678 + 1671 = 3467. If only they had been able to pick up Windham... they were in the right division and everything.

Re: Team Math
Humm, just thinking about this, made me realized we are a prime number... that's pretty cool too.
TORC * Juggernauts = TORC and nothing else. ![]() |
