2016 Teaser and Safety Animation

A big thanks to everyone who has shared the 2016 FRC Teaser with their friends, relatives and complete strangers! Response has been positive so far. The teaser has actually received more ‘likes’ on the FIRST YouTube channel than any other video FIRST has ever posted. We know that ‘likes’ on YouTube and ‘shares’ on Facebook won’t necessarily translate into greater involvement in FIRST, but this kind of excitement and awareness is a great first step. If you haven’t yet shared this with folks who know little or nothing about FIRST, please do so. You may just change someone’s life. The ‘What is FRC’ video is a great companion piece to share with the 2016 teaser.

Another exceptional video to share is the RoboLeague documentary. I strongly encourage our entire FRC community to watch this, and share, share, share. This is probably the best documentary about FIRST I’ve ever seen. It’s longer, at about 50 minutes, than some of our other videos, and won’t appeal to folks just looking for a quick taste, but for people willing to make the investment, it’s well worth it. The true passions, excitement, and drama of the FRC experience are laid bare. This is ‘real’ reality TV, without the covert scripting used by so many other programs. Every time I see it, I get emotional - it’s that powerful.

Safety Animation

I am so sorry about the delay in getting out information about the Safety Animation award. We’re currently working through some details with Underwriter’s Laboratories. The good news is there will be a Safety Animation Award for the 2016 season, the bad news is we don’t yet have a topic. We hope to be able to announce that information shortly, along with format and length requirements. Please stay tuned.

Behind the Lines

Don’t forget about the latest episode of Behind the Lines, premiering tonight, October 21, at 9PM EST at www.frcgamesense.com. The topic is “Alumni Programs and Applying for Scholarships”. This will be hosted, as always, by our good friends from GameSense. The expert guest is Michelle Long, FIRST Alumni Program Manager. If you are interested in being able to actually pay for that college you want to attend, it’s worth taking a look.
