Anyone from northern michigan?

Posted by Gui Cavalcanti at 05/10/2001 9:53 PM EST

Student on team #422, Mech Tech, from Governor's School (GSGIS) and Verizon.

I have a friend who's interested in forming a FIRST team but it's someone who's admin is not particularly interested. Are there any teams in northern michigan near the Tri-Township School in Rapid River? Please respond, we need to get this guy in touch with the regional coordinator up there.

Thanks,
Gui

We have a team here in Houghton.....but that's way up in the top of the U.P. I don't think we'll be much help. Sorry.

I hope your friend gets a team started. I think it's kinda sad that there aren't teams from Midland, Mt. Pleasant (there should be soon) or Lansing yet, esp. since they all have universities in their towns which have good technical programs. Tell your friend keep trying until it happens!!!

When I point to my hand, where is Rapid River?

-Erin, who still identifies cities in Michigan using her hand as a map..worked quite well coming back from Indiana

There are no teams from the Lower Peninsula north of Saginaw. I'm from Alpena (northeast LP, right on lake Huron and about 70 miles south of the bridge) and I've been trying to get FIRST some press in the local papers so hopefully someone will start up a team. It would be nice to see something happen up there but it'll probably be a while.

Hey Gui,
I know someone at Northern Michigan University who may start a team. I know she has been working on it, I believe she had a meeting with the Dean before she left for home. I haven't talk to her since. I will let you know what's going on.
