Ranking Points

My understanding from reading the rues is there are 2 things that give you points towards ranking.

1) Breaching the defenses.
2) Capturing the tower.

Any thoughts?

5.3.3 Does state that they are used, but in what way will points (NOT RP) be used in qualification matches? are they useless then?

They determine win/loss/tie, which is worth half the possible ranking points.

again, do you mean 5.3.3? that just says that teams are seeded from 1 to N, N being the number of teams. This also does not explain the use of points in Qual's if RP is used

5.3.4 also states the sorting criteria for ranking. The first being Ranking Score. 5.3.3 states that Ranking Points make up the Ranking Score.

The use of points (earned by scoring boulders in goals and by crossing defenses) in the qualification rounds is to determine win, lose, or tie.

Points are used to WIN a match. Win = 2 RP, tie = 1. More points than your opponent = 1 win.

Wrong way around. Points, scored by the various actions on the field, determine W/L/T. W/L/T plus the "bonus" actions (Breach and Capture) give RP, which give a Rank (seed) for the competition.

Points in a match are used to determine the W/L/T which in turn decide Ranking Points (along with Breach and Capture).

Ranking Points are used to determine ranking as detailed in 5.3.3 and 5.3.4.

You need to read the entire manual and use the information together to understand the game. It is hard to understand things with only bits and pieces of knowledge.

Trust me, i have read the manual. This is just fairly confusing to me and i cant seem to understand it, hence why i am here. I also may not be the only one, and its good to have an ELI5 understanding of something important.

So points Determine W/L/T, and then RP determines seed? then in the playoffs RP is not used and Just Points are used?

Does anyone know if it is illegal to travel over a defensive wall thing more than 2 times?
