Bumper numbers font

My team cant find the restriction for the bumper number fonts but we want something kindof crazy. Graffiti font is a popualr opinion. What are the restrictions for the numbers?

Re: Bumper numbers font

You can find them in the robot section of the game manual, which can be found on FIRST'S website. I would post them here but I don't currently have access to it.

Re: Bumper numbers font

And while it's not a formal rules requirement, make sure that whatever you use can't be mistaken for a different number. Here are some suggestions towards that:
  • All of your openings and space between the digits should also be at as wide as the stroke width (or nearly so), so that a 5 is not read as a 6 or a 3, 5, 6, or 9 as an 8.
  • Include an opening in your 4 and a curved tail on your 9 to keep them from being mistaken for each other.
  • If you have a top serif on your 1, make it not much bigger than the stroke width, and that the top bar on your 7 is well over twice the stroke width, so they can't be confused.

Re: Bumper numbers font

Only thing I'll add is to make sure they're readable from 30' away.

It's probably most confusing when we're on the same alliance as 3018.

Re: Bumper numbers font

For a general purpose bumper font that works well on 8" bumper sections extended to the adjacent corner which allows for 11 1/4", see here:

http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions...604195/frc2530

This satisfied the 2012 rules and I think those rules were relaxed a bit.

Be careful with 'Crazy' Readability from a distance is key for scouts to know who you are. Make sure crazy is readable. You are also at risk for inspection issues if you get too crazy for the same reasons.

Re: Bumper numbers font

Looks like people here already did a good job of covering the rules, but when you figure out what font you want to do you can send the image to us at robopromo.com to have them professionally cut in our iron-on vinyl.

Here's a link for more info on our website:
