Top Chairman's Award Teams in your State
Inspired by this thread, who are the top teams in your state that are currently eligible to win the most important award in FIRST?
For MN the conversation starts with 1816. They built MNFIRST and they are a legitimate contender to be the next HoF team. 2. Next up is 2220 in my opinion. They consistently are in the running for CA, and they have started a ridiculous amount of FTC teams (I think like 10 or more). 3. 2169 could easily be interchanged with 2220. They are one of the most well rounded teams in MN, competing on and off the field to an exceptional degree. Other Competitors (have won CA or EI in the past, and are consistent threats to win): 2512, 3313, and 2500 Up-and-comers (haven't won yet, but have the body of work to win): 2977 - They are doing some really cool things with their 7 Rivers Coalition 4607 - Started FRC Jumpstart, 3 FTC teams, and a bunch of FLL teams. Started Central MN Robotics Hub, and have mentored 6 FRC rookie teams in the last 2 years. (I say more because I know more) So I'd love to hear about the Chairman's competitors in your region! NH:
1058-3 wins in the last 4 years. Can't get past the NE CMP hurdle yet. 1519-won their first one in 2015 but is definitely on the rise. 811-has won both EI and Chairmans recently and can definitely add more. Other teams who have won recently or can definitely win in the near future: 3467, 166, 131, 1073 and 2342. |

Re: Top Chairman's Award Teams in your State
Sorry if I forget any IN teams for Chairman's, but based on the past few years all of the following teams have the program to win Chairman's with (in numerical order):
135 234 461 1501 1741 1747 4272 All of these teams have won a CA in the past few years, or are in the running to win one soon. |

Re: Top Chairman's Award Teams in your State
For Oregon, based off of the past few year's results:
1540 Flaming Chickens -without a doubt They have won the equivalent of a Regional Chairman's every year since 2012, and earned the honor for the first time in 2010. They are involved in many things, (helping at the zoo, an algae cleaning robot, FLL, hosting Girls Generation and BunnyBots, and various assorted outreach events, among other things) and, from talking to their Chairman's reps, they mean business. 4125 Confidential has yet to win a Regional Chairman's, but has won District Chairman's the past two years. Aside from 1540, they appear to be the only Oregon team to have done so. Between their FLL programs and their own existence- from stories they told at the COSA (Confederation of Oregon School Administrators) conference, their community is incredibly invested in their program. They are a fantastic team, highly competitive for Chairman's, and I would not be surprised if they received one of the PNW's Regional Chairman's Awards in the next few years. Recent District Winners (1 time) 4057: STEAMPUNK 3574: HIGH TEKERZ 4488: Shockwave Now with giant dinosaur From my limited knowledge of Washington Chairman's, I would second Skunkworks. 4911 is also a team to watch out for. They are entering their third season this year: 2014 they were a District EI team, and PNW Rookie All-Star, and were District Chairman's winners in 2015. |

Well surprisingly, we (Team 1501) have never won the Chairman's Award, we've come close...matter of fact, this year we threw in the towel, my kids and mentors are done trying. Interesting FACT though... Adi BendashYehoshua was a 5/6 year student FLL/FRC in the Huntington County 4-H Robotics program. She was mentored by really good mentors on 1501 :-) She went on to Purdue and joined 4272. Last year already, she lead her team 4272 to a Chairman's win and has beaten 1501 out of several UL Safety Awards. Little friendly competition there...Lesson here: be careful how you mentor your students, they just might become your best competition later on in the future.....GOOD JOB Adi! |

Re: Top Chairman's Award Teams in your State
2 years ago this answer would have been easy for me, but then 27 received an incredibly well deserved induction into the HoF in 2014.
Now the top contender in Michigan has to be 503. 6 State Championship Chairman's Awards is more than anyone else has gotten since Michigan switched to Districts in 2009 (including 27, who received 4 at States and 1 at a Regional in that time period). If I had to add a second contender it would be 33, they have won 4 State Championship Chairman's Awards since 2009. The only other team to win multiple State Chairman's Awards is 68, who has two. Their Chairman's program seems to be on the rise, as they went back to back in 2014 and 2015. |

Kansas 1108 - KS (8 RCA) (2 DLFA & 2 WFFA) 1710 - KS (5 RCA) (1 REI & 1 WEI) (1 DLFA & 1 WFFA) 3172 - KS (1 RCA) MISSOURI 0931 - MO (3 RCA) (2 REI) (1 DLFA & 2 WFFA) 1987 - MO (3 RCA) (2 REI) (1 DLFA & 1 WFFA) 1986 - MO (2 RCA) (2 REI) (5 DLFA & 1 WFFA) 3284 - MO (2 RCA) (2 DLFA) 1730 - MO (1 RCA) (5 REI) (2 DLFA & 2 WFFA) Missouri Honorable Mention 1939 - MO (1 RCA) (1 RE1) (2 DLFA & 1 WFFA) 3528 - MO (1 RCA) (1 REI) 1985 - MO (1 RCA) (1 DLW! & 1 WFFA) 1094 - MO (1 RCA) (1 DLFA & 1 WFFA) Their are plenty of other teams with tremendous programs that could join these past area winners. Of special note is 4329 who has been running a St. Louis off-season event with 1985 and won 2 EI awards last year. Last edited by Alpha Beta : 01-03-2016 at 09:47. Reason: Corrected 1108 to 8 RCA (I have trouble counting that high) & 1987 to 2 REI & 1939 had an addtional unlisted DLFA. |

Re: Top Chairman's Award Teams in your State
I'll mostly agree with Ryan's assessment of Minnesota, but I think some of the facts are wrong, and a bit more explicit data on the teams you've mentioned is good for context.
2220 has only won one RCA (but they've won 3 EI), not exactly consistent 2169 has the most RCA wins in the state (5 RCA), and 1 EI 1816 has 4 RCA, 3 EI 2500 has 6 EI wins, the most in the state 3313, 2512 each have 1 RCA It's also worth noting that 1816 is currently the only MN team with an RCA streak. Based on this, I'd put the order similar to yours: 1: 1816: The strongest, but only by a hair. They've both come out on top versus and been beaten by 2169 and 2220 in recent history (last five years) for the top award. 2: 2169, 2220: These two are very close to on par with each other, and though 2169 has a historic edge, it's usually neck and neck. Both are extremely strong teams in terms of community impact, and both have had a huge part in building FTC in their areas. I'd put them almost entirely on par with each other, and with a match up in Peoria this year it will be interesting to see how these two perennial MN contenders stack up against each other out of state. 4: 2500: From my understanding, they almost always fit the criteria for EI more than RCA, but they've been on the edge for long enough and have impacted the urban FRC teams here so much that I think an RCA win is long overdue. 5: 2512: Just generally a solid team. I don't know if it was a fluke or luck or just well earned, but they pulled off a win against a team I was sure was going to be a lock (525) last year at Northern Lights. Definitely a team to watch out for. |

Re: Top Chairman's Award Teams in your State
I am well aware of the accomplishments of 1108 but I didn't have them on my list because it was for Missouri not Kansas, as for 1710 I just couldn't remember at the time where they were from only knew that they had an outstanding program. Thanks for the clarification though.
