Greater Pittsburgh Regional 2016 Discussion Thread

I just wanted the make this thread to say Hello and good luck to all the teams at the Pittsburgh Regional this year! Please post robot reveals, discussion and maybe a couple nice places to eat around the event center because this will be our first time here!

Depending on where you're staying, be sure to bring money for the Pennsylvania Turnpike. As far as food around the venue, unfortunately, I don't think there are too many options. i assume the concession stand will be open again this year...

From last year, the arenas concessions are open. They're concessions exactly like what you would find at any other sporting event. They have things like pretzels, Popcorn, nachos, fries, soda etc. Just keep in mind it is extremely overpriced and they don't give out free water

Hey everyone welcome and good luck at Pittsburgh! It will be a fun time again this year! As for food; there are a couple of places to eat and also that deliver or you can run and pick up the food (that is what we normally do):

Campy's Pizza
Spud's
Dairy Queen
High Point Restaurant
LagerHeads

We are looking forward to our first trip to the Greater Pittsburgh Regional! We will be staying about 20 minutes out in Washington. Anyone else staying there? Heading in with a broken drive train, but hoping to be at full speed by our first match! Looking forward to making new robot friends! See you all soon!

Thanks! Likewise! Our new VEX Gearboxes are due in today, so we will hopefully be home. We are trying to pack carefully, since we will not be able to run home for anything we forget.

Welcome to the burgh, FRC! I'm glad to finally see something local on here.

Last year, we ordered pizzas from Fox's Pizza I believe. There is also a Dairy Queen close by if you are a small group.

Nice job everyone on the first day of qualification rounds!

For Team 3015, it was our second year at the Pittsburgh Regional and we had a great time. Most of the volunteers were very respectful and all of the local teams were very helpful and fun to work with.

For the larger Rochester contingent at the event, it really gave Pittsburgh an FLR feel. It was great to compete with and against so many hometown teams. Good luck to everyone in your future events.

1023, you guys were a class act. You guys have been a team I've respected and followed since I attended the 2011 Michigan State Championship to do some work for FRC Top 25 and saw you guys go toe to toe with 67 and 33 pushing them to the brink in the finals. To get a chance to play with you guys was awesome. Your team was prepared and focused throughout the elimination rounds and your robot was just awesome. Two finalists trophies to start the year is great, I hope you guys can break through in Livonia and I know you'll find success at MSC. Best of luck!

4050, I can't believe you guys were there for us to pick. You had a robot that should have gone in the first round. Your breaching ability was insane and consistent. My drive team spoke very highly of the students on yours and we wish you the best of luck at Smoky Mountains.

1126, 5406, and 1559; Congratulations on an impressive Regional Win. I could show you a few text messages that proves we knew you guys would be tough competitors and you didn't disappoint us. I wish all robots on both alliances were functional for all 3 finals matches but they were intense and exciting either way. I look forward to seeing 1126 and 1559 at FLR in a couple weeks and 5406 at the Waterloo Regional. Good Luck!
