Dual monitor driver console
Does anyone out there have a drive console with two monitors? We would like to do something like that for our console this year. Particularly helpful would be what monitor you are using and how you interface it to your laptop. Thanks in advance!

Re: Dual monitor driver console
I don't recall the number, but there was a team at Northern Lights with a monitor connected as a secondary display.
The model isn't particularly important. As long as your laptop has video output of some kind (most do- look for DVI, HDMI, mini-HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, etc.), any monitor with the matching input will work for you! The one thing this team ran into that I would encourage you to look into is that you really need a way to secure the monitor to the driver station. Robots barrel into the alliance wall more often than anyone would like this year, and monitors are at a particularly high risk of falling off the ledge if they are just sitting there. |

The lenovo Thinkpad W700DS is a 17" laptop with a popout second screen.

Re: Dual monitor driver console
We used a 24inch standard monitor. We took off the base and bolted the drive station directly into the back of the monitor. We have our aim camera on that, the dashboard has a 180 degree camera on it.
The 2 cameras worked beautifully.... on day 2 (first day the IP camera wouldn't work and the Cheval De Fries smashed the lens out of our 180 camera). |
