2016 Pacific Northwest District Championship

Last year's PNW Champs thread was created way too late - when qualification matches were almost over. We can do better!!!

With so many good teams, it's really hard to predict who will pull out the win. Almost all of the powerhouses have lost events. Teams like 1983, 4488, 1318, 1540, 2522, 2471, 3238, 2046, 3663, 4061, and 4469 have looked unstoppable at some of their events but ran into problems at others.

1425 can claim victory at all of their district events - but can they pull off a victory at PNCMP without the ability to score in the high goal?

3786 also won both of their events as the ultimate 16th pick. Their presence means that scorers will definitely have to worry about hard, smart defense.

My prediction is that the playoff matches will be wide open, and that many teams not mentioned above will really step up their game and become forces to be reckoned with. In addition, the threshold for being great at PNCMP will be much, much higher. All teams who want to be contenders will have to improve from their district performances.

All that being said, the Sonic Squirrels Team 2930 wishes for everyone to have a rockin' time at Veterans Memorial Coliseum!

Re: 2016 Pacific Northwest District Championship

This competition is definitely going to be interesting. One thing that I'm personally excited for is the number of scales that we can see at this competition. Only one team could climb at Wilsonville and two climbed at Oregon City; I am under the impression that the number here could easily be a dozen - and it may get higher. Could we possibly see a third team that climbs?

That being said, good luck to all the teams at this competition! While I am pulling for a CloverBots victory at this competition, I know this competition will be amazing regardless of where we place because of the quality and class of the teams that are here. Go PNW Champs!

Re: 2016 Pacific Northwest District Championship

Though our robots season is over, a small group of us will be at the PNW DCMP to cheer on our deans list and Woodie flowers nominees, along with watching some great robot action. Expect to see some of us Friday and Saturday asking some questions about your team, as we look to improve our team over the next few months to be more solid.

(ill also have some shirts on me, if anyone is up for trading)

Good luck to all of the teams competing this weekend!

I can't wait to see everyone today at load in! Two and a half hours and counting until our bus leaves!

The next few days are going to be exciting, and slightly terrifying (maybe more so on Saturday), but I'm looking forward to every minute of it. I know this is going to be a great event, the PNW is definitely beginning to establish itself as a force to be reckoned with on the international level.

It'll be great to see your Chairman's insights Jacob! So far I have been impressed with 1540, 4911, and 1983, but my knowledge of the Chairman's Award scene is far from complete.

Re: 2016 Pacific Northwest District Championship

Having an official practice field with FMS in the pits was so helpful! I'd like to thank the organizers of the event and the FTA's for agreeing to do this. The additional effort and expense to haul, set up and run a second field was greatly appreciated. The practice field time was divided into both FMS run practice matches and tethered measurement time. I felt this was a great use of the district's second field. Thank you!

The elimination matches were so intense with many tie-breakers. We had a great time and we are looking forward to seeing our fellow PNW teams in St. Louis.

I'd like to second this. We went into the event with basically zero shooting autonomous. The practice field allowed us to get a crude dead reckoning shooting autonomous working, and having access to extra practice matches whenever we wanted them was a blessing.

Thank you to the FTA's and anyone else involved with the setup and maintenance of the practice field!

Thirded. We rediagnosed (correctly this time!) some problems only because of this field.
