Remember this...

I know some people are thinking about having their robot grab three goals to obtain the most points they can get during a match! Cool idea, but remember this:

Say your team gets three goals and both robots in your robot zone. That's 50 points right there. Then say each goal has 10 balls in it. That adds another 30 points making your total score 80. The only thing left for your opponent to do is get their robots in the endzone for 20 points total. You end the match with a score of 80 and you opponent ends with 20. You win! Then you get the 3x multiplier of your opponents score which is 60. Instead of getting the 80 you had at the end of the match, you would now recieve only 60 points.

If your team had given up one goal to the opponent, that would have given them an extra 20 points (ten for the goal and ten for the balls in it), boosting their final score up to 40. This way, they would have 40 in the end and you would have 60. Getting the 3x multiplier of their score, you would recieve 120 points which is double the score you earned at the end of the match!

Just a thought!!

As most teams discovered two years ago, beating your opponent senseless was not a winning strategy during the qualifying rounds.

The teams that understand the game are going to score points for opponents who are "offensively challenged". Sometimes you can get burned if you underestimate the opposition, but most times you'll win out.

Knowing the opposition is going to be as important as knowing your alliance mate. Once again, scouting will be a critical component for a winning team.

Then again, a devasting un-beatable, 3-goal carrying monster robot would probably be a good pick for the number-1 seed team during the elimination matches when the score doesn't matter and it becomes best 2/3. Looks like you technical would make it to the eliminatino matches either way
