Severe RobboRIO Error

We are unable to communicate with the RoboRIO from the FRC Driver Station or the Eclipse plugin.

We have the RoboRIO connected wirelessly, but we have also tried connecting with the RIO using USB & Ethernet.

When we deploy the code, we get a build failed message in the log, and in the driver station, the communications light is off. The communications light on the RIO is also red.

However, momentarily the RIO comm light loses color thus showing it should be in working condition, the code is still not received, our code is perfectly fine and has been tested multiple times before the error. In fact, our code has succeeded and yet still not been received throughout the driver station.

While researching this problem we found one "solution", where we would make the RIOs IP address static and use that static address as the team number in the Driver Station. This seemed to keep the comm light off on the RIO, but the Driver Station still showed that we were not connected and we still could not deploy from Eclipse.

We have also tried using another RoboRIO, which had the software freshly flashed. That RIO went through the same exact problems.

This problem has been reoccurring for slightly more than a month.

All help is welcome.

Re: Severe RobboRIO Error

Have you tried using different cables? Or cleaning the ports/terminals on the RIO? Though I'd think that if a different RIO had the same problems, on USB, WiFi, and Ethernet, it's not the RIO or the cables. Is there another driver station computer you can use? Different network? Network frequency? Maybe power could affect it...

Re: Severe RobboRIO Error

Yes we have, alas that didn't help, cleanliness doesn't seem to be the issue as our two RoboRIOs are experiencing the same error and are both fairly clean.

Re: Severe RobboRIO Error

We don't use a different computer for the driver station but we do use one for the code, the network seems to be fine, same with the frequency. I don't understand what you say by maybe power could affect it, may you elaborate.

How are you powering the RIO? Power supply? Battery? What is connected to the RoboRIO other than power and data cables?

Re: Severe RobboRIO Error

I would recommend connecting the DS computer and roboRIO using a USB cable. If that doesn't immediately work, go to the Diagnostics tab of the DS, second from top on the left side, and determine if the DS can ping the robot successfully. Ensure that firewalls are disabled on the laptop.

Once you get this working, you can use it to correct the ethernet and then wifi.

The Rio is set up with a 12 volt battery after being put through an energy distribution board. The RIO itself is connected to the Talon set up and the afore mentioned power distribution board. Our setup with power and the likes has worked before the issue which has been plaguing our team.
Sorry for the late reply.
