Regional Waitlisting
As November 3rd approaches, we are seeing that fewer and fewer regionals have space remaining. Does anybody know who I might contact or how we can go about trying to get on a regional wait list? Our team always does an excursion each year and were hoping to do the same this year. We were specifically looking at the Montreal, Smokey Mountain and Sacramento regionals. However at this point were open to pretty much anything if the dates work out.

Re: Regional Waitlisting
I would recommend emailing the respective Regional Directors for each event you're interested in. You can find a listing of Regional Directors and their contact info here: http://www.firstinspires.org/find-local-support

Re: Regional Waitlisting
Signing up for the wait list is just the same as signing up for one of the open spaces other than it asks you if you are sure if you want to be on the waitlist. There is a color code as to how full the waitlist is. Green means that you are one of the first on the list, yellow means that the number of teams on the list is nearing the number of reserved spots while red means that there are more teams on the list than their are spaces.
However don't count on getting in just because you join the list when it is green nor count yourself out just because the list is red. The wait list is not strictly first come first served. For example rookie teams are usually moved to the front of the line and a team that is not confirmed for any event particularly if they are local to the event will move ahead of an out of area team that has one or more confirmed events. Once all those special cases are addressed then the remaining teams will usually be offered a spot on a first on first off basis. On the other hand teams can drop off list of or decline the spot they are offered for various reasons. So the best bet is to contact the RD for the particular event and ask them what your chances are. They are the ones the ones that make the decision of the order that the spaces are offered and know who else is on the list. |

Re: Regional Waitlisting
It might be the last year you could make the trip down to Texas as districts seems imminent for us. Lots of room at at least both Houston regionals. If you want a real challenge - Hub City currently has some of the best teams in the state (and a certain WC team from Illinois) currently in attendance.
