A PC, otherwise known as a Personal Computer, is that beige box your monitor is hooked to. To hook a PC or a laptop or even a Palm Pilot to the Operator Interface, you can connect it via one of the included 9-pin serial cables to the Dashboard Port. Using a dashboard viewer, downloadable from many sources including InnovationFIRST . There are various dashboard viewers, and some people have written their own. I'm sure somebody will elaborate on the other programs...

use a serial cable and connect into the serial port on the back of your computer. Make sure there are no other devices such as a palm hot sync or anythign else that has the COM port open.

If you have difficulties post back on here again and i'm sure we can help you

Check your serial for marshmellows...

Your free serial port is usually COM2, as most BIOS chips set your modem as COM1, but just to be sure, check your system properties. If you're using a Mac, buy a serial-USB adapter, so your serial cable can be plugged into your USB port. They're sold all over for under 20 bucks. The InnovationFIRST dashboard program asks you which COM port to use, as does the Basic Stamp pBasic program uploader, but you'll be going throught that stuff after you finalize design.

thnks

thank you

[always wondered what the gray box was, ieh]

in the 2001, everything that was opertated by joystick other than the Drive was impossible to control, jerked too much.

we're considering automating such processes(if our design requires it)

thanks you once again
