Apply Windows Updates to Progamming Laptops before Kickoff

Now might be a good time to apply any Windows updates to your programming laptops prior to installing the FRC tools.

Especially if they've been sitting in a closet during the off-season.

Your best avenue to do this is a tool called WSUS Offline. It will download all the Windows updates, saving them in a folder you can copy to flash drives.

Start the update installer from the flash drive, select the "automatic reboot and recall" option, hit start, and walk away for a few hours. You'll get the full slate of updates without any further manual intervention. Make as many flash copies as you like, and you can update as many systems as you like in parallel.

I also recommend running the disk defragmenter, and a full disk check. (Those can also take hours.) If you have to replace a drive, better to discover it before kickoff.

If you have any Linux machines, you should probably update them as well, as there have been some Linux vulnerabilities discovered since the end of last season.
