Beatty's File Cards?
I heard about, but never saw team 71's actual robot. I heard they had File Cards or something for their added traction, where did they get these/what are they?
Never seen nor heard of them.. at least I don't think I have. Anyone happen to have a picture of these? |

File cards are used to clean the metal out of files. They are a piece of fabric that has thousands of little pieces of wire staples pushed through it. Then the fabric is tacked to a piece of wood for a handle. They work great for files and robots I guess

File Cards
File Cards were avialble from Small Parts, the had great grip on the carpet. Team 71, who we picked to go alll the way with at the nationals, had them attached to a walking mechism that had two feet which inched the machine foward with one foot and then the other.
We expermented with them to use as an ankers, they had a coefient of friction of like 1.6 to 2, but came to relization that you needed a very low center gravity machine or you were at a big risk of being tiped over. To be honest the only reason that we didn't add them was the added weight and time run out. |

File cards should be banned.
According to Bob Hammond anything that rips the carpet can get you disqualified. File cards can rip the carpet, therefore......

we used em on pnuematic cylinders last year as brakes...and they worked super effectively but i can totaly see why first would ban them because they really can tear up carpet.
