The Talon SRX code has moved out of WPIlib. Download the CTRE Toolsuite Installer 4.4.1.9 (.zip) from here: http://www.ctr-electronics.com/contr...ical_resources

Re: Talon SRX CAN Code

Any info on how to use this with the drive code like in years past? For instance, when trying to do an arcade drive you could select CAN TALON SRX from the drop down, aside from a couple vi's that allow you to manipulate the Talon's now, that are installed in the linked update I don't see how to use the CAN Talon's easily.

I really don't want to rewrite the entire drive.

Re: Talon SRX CAN Code

The CAN Talon SRXs now have their own set of vi's under Motor Control for communicating over CAN (after you've downloaded and used the CTRE installer).
You can find them under RobotDrive and under Actuators.
Examples of use are in the Talon SRX documentation on the CTRE website.

The regular Open 2/4 Motor vis still have a drop down to select Talon SRX and use them via PWM.

Thanks for the reply, since I started 3 years ago we haven't used any PWM. The single ring topology has been nice, and worked extremely well for us. It also mirrors what I use in industry.

Is there no way to emulate the open 2 / 4 motors with the functionality we have had in the past, aside from writing it ourselves? I don't have the FRC suite on my computer here so I haven't looked at it too deep yet.

I understand the decoupling of the two libraries, but I really thought once we installed the new package from CTRE it would at the CAN talon SRX to the polymorphic VI.

Re: Talon SRX CAN Code

The decoupling has left only the polymorphic vi for PWM, because it only sets PWM range constants that haven't and probably won't ever change.
The PWM vi that includes Talon SRX settings doesn't come from the CTRE installation package, so no integration is required.

Re: Talon SRX CAN Code

You can still use the open 2/4 Motor VIs - you just have to select the "Existing Motor" option and then wire the Device Reference from a Talon SRX Open VI (which can be found in the CAN Talon SRX palette after you've installed the Toolsuite).

There's an example of this in the Simple Arcade Drive Example in our GitHub.

AWESOME!

That's exactly what I needed to know. I figured it was something like that. I tried wiring the Ref output into the polymorphic vi, but not with the Existing motor option.

Thanks for the info.
