STEAMworks LEGO Set

Someone has recently proposed this year's playing field as a LEGO set, which everyone should definitely go support:

https://ideas.lego.com/projects/164633

How it works is people propose ideas for LEGO sets, and if any idea gets 10,000 people supporting it, LEGO will consider putting it into production. There are some benchmarks that must be met as well - for example, an idea must get 100 supporters in the first 60 days to remain on the site.

Re: STEAMworks LEGO Set

Hi, one of the set co-creators checking in

As of today, we have surpassed 100 supporters. But, we still need a whole lot more!

We would also love to hear feedback from the FIRST and Chief Delphi communities on the set design. We were able to apply some feedback from the FIRST STRONGHOLD model to this new set, so keep the comments coming!

Re: STEAMworks LEGO Set

It's a shame the Stronghold one never came together, but that's even more of a reason to get this STEAMWorks one to go through!

I'll be sure to let our team know about this!

The stronghold set has 2500+ supporters and just under a year to get to 10K

This looks pretty great. One suggestion I have for the creators. Evaluate what parts are actually available and in what colors at bricklink.com. LEGO Ideas kits seldom get recolors of parts so you may want to work that into your design. For example, those 1x2x2 brackets and the crate piece aren't currently available in clear currently. Also, this part might be a good option for your driver station glass, so the minifigs can better see through.

Good Luck! Supported.

Re: STEAMworks LEGO Set

Just some numbers for this year.

2017 FIRST Robotics Competition

3,400 teams
85,000 participants (Ages 14-18; Grades 9-12)

So based on that we should be able to get at least 10,000 people to support this.

Jarren,

Thank you for the feedback. We will be looking into changing the representation of the alliance wall glass to either this or a similar piece, along with the bracket and bin colors before finalizing the design.

As mentioned prior, we value ideas from the greater community to improve the set. This also applies to the Stronghold set, which still has potential to reach 10k supporters.

Please keep sharing this around to your teams! As Larry said, we should be able to reach 10k supporters!
