Kitbot chassis on Einstein?
I was wondering if a kitbot chassis, (the drive base), has ever had a successful run on Einstein. Discounting the harpoon madness that almost happened in 2015
Thanks in advance for answering my randomness. |

Re: Kitbot chassis on Einstein?
694 ran a modified kit bot (added 8" pneumatic wheels) last season and was an alliance captain on Einstein. Not sure what your definition of "successful run" is.

Re: Kitbot chassis on Einstein?
Not just a 4th bot on an 8th seed alliance (though still an impressive feat in of itself)

Re: Kitbot chassis on Einstein?
694 wasn't the 4th bot in the 8th alliance. They were the alliance captain for the 8th alliance.

Re: Kitbot chassis on Einstein?
I was answering his question as to what my definition of a good run was and I forgot to separate the answer, my bad.

Re: Kitbot chassis on Einstein?
My team is far from Einstein winning, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I believe that the reason that a kitbot is so rare on Einstein is not that the kitbot is bad, but that the teams who can engineer Einstein quality robots are capable of engineering a different drivetrain.
FWIW: Don't use 'there have been so few kitbots on Einstein' as reason to ditch the kitbot. Build what your team is capable of. |

5136 was an Einstein finalist in 2014 with an AM14U1.

Re: Kitbot chassis on Einstein?
I believe 4334 was on a modified kit drive base in 2012.
121 in 2009 drove on a kit base as well. |

Re: Kitbot chassis on Einstein?
330 won the championship in 2005 with KOP gearboxes, albeit on a custom chassis.
