MUST READ: Team Organization
Hello all teams,
I was wondering if there are any teams out there that are independent from a school. CA Robotics was set up as a local robotics group for students from any school, or no school at all. Are there any other teams set up this way, or in a similar way that is independent from a school? Even though it isn't required, I'm starting to think that people think being sponsored by a school is a requirement?!? Thanks a lot for responding, Jonathan Webmaster, Programmer Charlottesville/Albemarle Robotics 300 West Main St. Charlottesville, Virginia 22901 |

I can't think of one off hand but there are teams that are made up of a multitude of schools, church groups, or just groups.
having a high school sponsor is not a requirement, having high school level students isn't either. But they must be high-school or lower people. (i.e. K-12 if they were to be in a school). I can't remember what team number but an old gaming buddy of mine was on an all middle school FIRST team (not FLL, FIRST) down in Flowermound, TX |

Our school district doesn't sponsor us or anything. The tech teachers like us so they spend their own time with us in the labs so we can work. However, we still say we're 'school-sponsored'. Otherwise, they'd forbid us from using the room.

We are in a similar situation... we currently cover 5 school districts, and are open to an additional 3 school districts. In addition we have home school students..... and work out of several locations.
