Ranking database.

What did you guys think of the new rank display system FIRST has running in the pits for teams to see the standings? Our team felt that overall it was way to slow and it took for ever to see what your team was ranked.

Did they have this same sytem running everywhere? I would assume so. But it seriously scrolled so fast.

Didn't they in past years have the whole screen change at once, and then give the details for 3 or 4 teams at once while the other thing was changing independantly, this year it was one at a time on the details and the big list only changed when the details one changed.

And the details thing with your team number and scores was the exact same thing as what itsaid in the main list, why not put something different in there like individual match scores?

It seemed the same as last year.

I really disliked the scoring screen also. It took probably about 3-4 minutes to see your team. Also, why not show your total points? It would of helped a lot to know how many points you needed to score to move up in the rankings.

Last years database was so much better. I think everytime i went to check my team's ranking, i'd get there one after and have to wait like twenty minutes for it to come around again.

I agree.. it was VERY slow. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, basically you saw about 10, maybe 15, teams listed on the screen. After somewhere between 5 and 10 seconds, it would scroll up one team. At the end of the list of teams, it scrolled up blank rows for one full page until it got back to the #1 team.

Better: Scroll by half a page at a time every 10 seconds, or at least 3 teams.

Best: Constant smooth scrolling, like movie credits.

It was definetly different then last year (and the years before). In the past, it was very hard to copy down rankings, because they would change so quickly, but you could find your team fairly quickly. This year, it was very easy to copy the rankings because the screen only changed one team at a time, but as others said, it took forever to find where your team was ranked.

I'm not really sure which is better.

not to mention that they put it in a very bad spot at CLeveland. Everyone was behind the digital data projector and the bots couldn't get through. Not to mention that it was really slow and it was hard to see sometimes because of all the lights that were in the pit area.

we were on the end of the next row over from it and couldn't see it from our pit....

And people were always standing in the way when you were trying to get your bot through.

Maybe they could look into rear projection.

Perhaps they need to make a few rules to access to the pits as well. Bystanders just hanging around in the entrances and exits cause uneccessary problems that can be easily avoided by having them moved away from that area so they don't block it up for it's important purpose and no gets hurt.

It was pretty, but it took a long time to display all the teams. It had to scroll through open spaces before it restarted and went to #1 and down.
