I think First should do something to celebrate the Wright Brothers centennial

These guys imbodied the spirit of human innovation and deserve to be recognized. They have done things that people today would not even attempt to do like build an engine block with a drill press and lathe. It has been almost 100 years since there historic flight. I am not sure how Kamen would celebrate this but it would be a nice idea. What do you guys think?

Maybe they could incorporate it into the game for next year. I really don't know how, but I am sure if anyone could figure out how, it would be FIRST.

Good luck to everyone at the invitationals.

Flying robots

Maybe next years game should require the robots to fly That would be the the best celebration. Hmm, how could I get a 130lb with only a couple of drill motors.....Not likely (although I think a hover bot would be possible).

It would be cool if teams built their own FIRST airplanes. They could build something like a souped up model airplane. They could use the EDUbot controller and radio. The positional servos in the kit are commonly used in model airplanes to control rudders. An old bosch (no gearbox) on a propeller might be able to lift it. It would weigh a lot. Also it would probably be a little too dangerous to operate in the pits. Safety Goggles Everyone!

Actually it isn't next year. It is this year. The only thing is that it is December 17. Really close to the FIRST kickoff.

I think that first should have a theme every year. Each game should deal with an invention or new idea that we commemorate. I think that this would further the knowledge gained during first. It also would make even better "headline news"

... and then there is the fact that the FIRST kick-off is always held on the first Saturday of the year, and in 2004 the first of the Mars Exploration Rovers lands on Mars on the first Saturday of the year. Coincidence? Or massive hint about next year's game? Could this have been "engineered" to be this way? Only 227 days until we find out....

That gives me tons of ideas. After the failure of this years "bin sensors" will they try a game where they are essential??

There are so many different types of games that could be played upon this topic. We will just have to wait and see I guess.
