Metallica & MP3's

All people that purchase the new Metallica CD "St Anger" receives a little paper with an authorization code to allow you into the Metallica Audio Vault. Inside this vault is over a dozen MP3's of live performances that they flat out tell you to share and burn. Is Metalllica (Lars Ulrich, particularly) lightening up on the MP3 issue, or is this just publicity to save their image to increase CD sales? What do you think?

I think it's kinda both. They gotta save some face on the issue about napster n' all, so they don't seem so anal retentive about the sharing. But then again when the new Linkin Park CD came out they said that it was burnproof and you couldn't share it, and they made a big stink about it. (I had the whole CD a day b4 it came out) And they were shunned by fans for being so anal about the subject too. So I think they're trying to save face with fans and other possible fans.

ssjcell is an unknown quantity at this point
who cares, more bands should do stuff like that, instead of me having to go out and find live tracks, cause everyone knows that live is better, if anyone likes old school thrash/metal from the big four (met, meg, slay, anth.), then go get the new anthrax album its good

what do you all think about the cd
its pretty good for any regular metal band, but for metallica its ok, notice how lars snare drum sounds like he's hitting a tin can, the drums sound like crap

and did kirk hammet even show up for the recording i dont think there is one solo on the thing, but still is not a bad cd,

heres what i say if this is what metallica sounds like sober, someone give them a bottle of JD and send them back on their substance abusing ways.

mustaine owns hetfield

hahah.. thats exactly the first two thoughts I had after listening to the first 6 tracks. I didn't make it past #6, because I was too disgusted. I downloaded it twice (you're welcome, Lars ), listened to 6 tracks, and then immediately deleted it (you're welcome, Lars ). Garbage. If by 'new sound' they meant 'we tried to make it sound like trash', then they hit the nail on the head.
