Go to Post I, being a Trekky myself, will really enjoy a Star Trek themed game if it turns out to be that. I will not enjoy programming the alcubierre warp drive. :D - AveryLevin. [more]

PHP Project

Ok, summer is in full effect. I'm bored out of my mind. Does anyone have an idea (be it first related or not) for something to program in php. I'd like to challenge myself and keep me non-rusty. This could also be a group project. Yay for boredom.....

Check in the FSN sub-forum... maybe somebody there has something you could help work on.

I'm sure the FIRST Scouting Network or freelanceFIRST could always use a few extra programmers, if you'd like to stay FIRST-related.

I'd say a great project would be to write your own forum software or make cool hacks for one that already exists.

or build some niche thing. too many forums around. :/

i got bored, integrated a calendar into a todo list script i made, and now keep track of stuff i need to do via a PHP generated HTML activedesktop. its sort of stupid, but if you really want, you can put together an active desktop that does everything (including running programs) all from your desktop. (i did that in a brief lull of school work, and eventually even ripped apart some news aggregation libraries and allowed myself to browse rss feeds from my desktop, which was semi over-kill).

http://coolmon.arsware.org (or .com) is a great start for it IMHO. It has many, many features (listed on the site).

nonono.

i made a personal organizer active desktop. as in, my desktop had a calendar, todo list, and the ability to launch apps. i don't really care how high my cpu/memory utilization is. (got scads of ram... really haven't seen usage rise above 50%)
