Compressor Control

We are just now getting the pneumatics from 2003 out of the plastic bags and doing some experiments. I read last year that many people were reading the pressure switch state into the processor and then determining if the signal to the compressor via a spike should be on or off. Why can't you just wire the pressure switch in series with the power to the compressor and not even read the presuure switch?

Because the pressure switch is not rated to handle as many amps as the compressor draws.
