AutoSyringe

I dont know anyone else on chiefdelphi who is diabetic ( i have been for 8 years) but for anyone who is or anyone who knows someone who has diabetes, this is kind of an interesting fact ... Dean Kamen invented the first insulin pump called the AutoSyringe ... and later sold the idea for it to Baxter

I know that I am extremely thankful to him for this (as well as other things) as I have been on an insulin pump for 4 years and if i wasnt on one I would be taking at least 6 (if not more) injections a day and the insulin pump has made my life a whole lot easier ...

i'm also i diabetic, and on the insulin pump. when i first learned of this, i was on team 312, who's sponsored by baxter, so it was kinda ironic. a very "six degrees of seperation" sorta thing.

Not quite. He invented the first portable insulin pump. He shrunk it from a cabinet sized machine in a hospital to a portable size. I think it was fannypack sized, but am not sure what size his first portable itteration was.

He has consistantly shown a love of mobility.
