Helvetica was developed by the Haas Foundry of Switzerland in the 1950s. Microsoft distributed a typeface called Arial, a very similar typeface , that comes bundled with every desktop computer. Thus Arial has now overtaken Helvetica as the standard font in pratically everything done by those who don't know better.
Take the role of Helvetica, and let Arial know we dont need its type around here. Warning: Very nerdy!! |

Re: Helvetica vs. Arial
When I worked at AB Dick ITEK Graphics we had a large poster in one room, that chronicled the history of printing, and of when new fonts were introduced.
It was really interesting BTW - it there is a difference between Helvetica and Arial, I dont see it! |

Re: Helvetica vs. Arial
Helvetica is much rounder...
But I prefer Arial with Microsoft ClearType enabled... I mean, Apple used Arial as default up till OS X. They liked it too. |
