SPAM robot names
Team 180 Rookies:
The names of the 6 robots that SPAM has built and competed are: 1998: Kenny 1999: G'Doinkle 2000: Lexie 2001: 3-Bits 2002: Fluffy 2003: Twitch BLT stands for brave little toaster Brandon: our website is still down (grrrrr), and these are the only answers to our history test that they can't find on usfirst.org, other than Robot Rodeo questions which are in the CD off season competition forum. I figured this was a good forum for them to search in and find the answers; let me know if you move this thread. Thanks. |

Re: SPAM robot names
OK Tytus.....
Kenny - kept dying, like Kenny on South Park G'Doinkle - added a ratchet to keep the lift up (as Warren called it, "the little thing that goes G'doink, G'doink, G'doink") Lexie - about 70% of the robot weight was Lexan (first year of unlimited use) 3-bits - that's all the code variable space we had left Fluffy - the killer rabbit, from Monty Python and the Holy Grail |

If I remeber, it was a toss up between Fluffy and Cuddles, and Fluffy won out. |

Re: SPAM robot names
My team seems unwilling to part with PAL (Professionally Automated Landrover or suchlike?) We're on PAL 5, about now.

Re: SPAM robot names
We generally wait until about the time we ship before we name our robot - it needs that much time to develop a personality.

Re: SPAM robot names
Short UpStaRT history lesson,
Two years ago's robot got named Moby (for the whale) b/c our floor grabbing device got named anchors and then our goal grabber a harpoon and then our ball shooter the "cannon", so we usually wait until someone has some sort of inspiration but then again last years got named after it's "wings" so we named it Icarus (after the greek guy who flew too close to the sun) and you know what?? It took on that kind of personality, It's rotation sensor broke in Richmond and it loved to flip so I guess that comes as close as you can to flying too close to the sun (by the way did I mention that only happened when we were near the top 10...) ![]() |
