# of Gauges

How many gauges did you guys get in your kit this year? I was trying to put together a working model of the pneumatics system we are going to use and I noticed we only have 2 Gauges and 2 valves.

I looked on the picture they gave us and it has 3 gauges... and they all seem to have a max of 160PSI. We have a 160psi and a 60psi

Can someone clear this up for me?

Sorry, only two comes with the kit...

You might say the picture (Pneumatics manual, page 15) is "wildly optimistic"...

...Or maybe THEIR pair of 160's bred a third one (and that's why we can't get another... It's still a 60 PSIG "child"...)

Seriously though, according to page 7 of Rev A of the KOP document ("6-TheKit-RevA-markup.pdf"), there are only TWO regulators supplied, both labeled as being 160 PSIG. However, I think that's a misprint. For the last few years my teams have only received "one of each", one in the 120-160 range, and one at 60. This year, we again only received one of each as well: one 160 PSIG max, one 60 PSIG max.

The advantage of having at least one 60 PSIG gauge is that (a) you don't NEED two higher pressure ones, and (B) you have higher resolution viewing of a dialed in pressure on the "working side" of the main regulator.

But I agree with you that we REALLY need a third gauge, so that you can monitor (A) pump/tank, (B) primary line post primary regulator, and (C) post secondary regulator pressures.

Bear in mind that you DO have a third gauge in the KOP: the TI pressure sensor. If you wish you can use the control system itself for the third gauge. You simply stick the value in a variable, and display the pressure on a laptop or a Palm Pilot monitoring that variable via Dashboard Port. Though less convenient for debugging, it saves you the price of another gauge on your BOM, and it can be buried in a less viewable place.
