Yup, In keeping with tradition, here she is. The 2004 Swampthing

Still got work to do but we're rolling now. Gonna need lots of drive practice with this thing! It's missing the harpoon (winch is ready), haven't connected the Ball gripper and still playing with a coraller, lots of cosmetics yet to do but mechanically we're almost done. All this and she weighs under 90 lbs! I think it's gonna need a ballast. Also trying to add Andy Bakers transmissions and omni wheels. Whew I'm tired!!! We've been working our brains out on this thing, the whole teams been Huge help this year. I dunno how those guys do it on Junkyard wars or Robat rivals in 1 day. 6 weeks and it's just never enough time.

At the start of the season, I guessed that not many teams would mess with the multipliers. It's nice to be proven wrong every now and then.

hmm....looks a little familar to me, maybe an idea from another robot that manipulated the multiplier really well a year or two back.....nice work....

The 2001 Heatwave Bot was my first love, I think whoever designed it was a genious! And our team agrees! We want to pay tribute on it in some way in the cosmetics.
I hope you guys don't take it negatively, there are plenty of our own ideas on it. It's the basic premise of the arms, how they taper for stability and leave the heavy mechanisms low, keeping the CG down.

Yes ... that bot was tight. We're glad to have been on their alliance at regionals in 2001.

PHEW!! its verry tiering and theres still much to do like the control system Gearboxes wheels gripper linkages and The Total lack of code

right now we have the drill motors and transmitions Not even the new ones from 2004 the old rusted ones from 2003. Our plan all along has been to ghet the bot done so the programers can program and the drivers can drive for two weeks while we make the Transmitions (Thank You Andy Baker) And wheels and other parts we want. thats one reason the field is full sise and done we want drive time and To host skiormmages in our shop With other teams coming over whenever they pleased witch You are well come to come to more information on that is shown in this thread http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=24456

Tytus and the team 179 gang: you are all very kind.

The 'bot looks great and the video is even better. That arm is a very good design, having a high reach coupled with the ability to have a low Cg. You are doing the right thing by driving it now and trying to find its weaknesses now instead of later.

lol, nothing about it is taken negatively way especially since i started a different team, and I'm gunning for 312 too It was a solid design back then, and I don't expect anyone to waste time reinventing the wheel....the guy that had the original idea just quit from baxter, but next time I see him I'll be sure to mention your love of the design.....I recommend if you don't already have it, putting in a force feedback system to keep the arm in the correct position so you can move that ball around easily.....PM or IM me if you want/need further explanation how we did it in 2001....

2 questions
whats the gear ratio you are using on those window motors

what powers the arm's rotation at it's base/ shoulder (and whats the gear ratio there)

we had done calculations and scrapped the 2X ball design because we thought it needed way to much torque. I guess we were wrong.

We're using globes at the base @ 6:1
and the window motors are also 6:1

wow Tytus, after all those crab drives you made in the offseason.. I was so convinced you'd pull off another crab for your bot, but this looks pretty agile itself
