Please help...I have a question:
Well we all know about the requirements for the crate the robot will travel in. But we were wondering if we were allowed to put tools or toolboxes inside the crate along with the robot, still within weight limits. Please, this is urgent. Is this concern even discussed in the manual??? Last edited by tribotec_ca88 : 09-02-2004 at 13:35. Reason: double post |

Re: Urgent Help!! Robot Transportation
Within the United States there is no problem with putting tools in the crates, etc. FIRST doesn't care. However, since you are shipping from Brazil, you would need to check with your shipping company and with customs to see if there are any gotcha's.

Re: Urgent Help!! Robot Transportation
If you include extra items in the crate, please be careful to secure everything well and be aware of where you put heavy items (tool boxes, batteries, etc.). I know some very veternan teams who thought they had things very secure, and still wound up with batteries falling on the robot in the crate. For the most part shipping companies do a great job, but I'd be very sure you account for possible "rough handling" so you don't get surprised on Thursday at your regional.

Re: Urgent Help!! Robot Transportation
My suggestion would to be check with Fed Ex (Português). I browsed their website, as well as the US Customs website, and didn't find much.
Hazmat Shipping in the US As far as I can tell, it is ok to ship the tools. You may want to call and check with Fed Ex to make sure. There is contact information on their website. Wetzel |

Re: Urgent Help!! Robot Transportation
Due to our experience in the past years, to avoid any custorms trouble we prefer to ship only the robot in the crate. Not even the batteries are shipped with the box.
I don't know what kind of exportation you guys gonna use, but we will use a temporary exportation. Everything thats in the box must be documented and MUST return with the box by the same currier company. Also, your robot must arrive there fast, and packing it with lots of tools ain’t gonna help it. Best regards, Malinowski |

Re: Urgent Help!! Robot Transportation
Hey, speaking of crates, where does one get shrink wrap or strapping to put around the crate?

Re: Urgent Help!! Robot Transportation
Shipping suppliers usually carry it. MSC should also carry some shipping supplies. www.mscdirect.com When you order something from MSC you usually get it the next day and they're not strictly wholesale compared to some other similar companies like Grainger.
