yeah we did it... 1/4" aluminum plate cut out on a band saw to look like a hook. theres 2 of them and it works quite well

We made pirate like hooks out of 3/16" aluminum on a bandsaw. We will cut it down more though. They were fun to play with.....arrrrgh.*covers one eye*
