Thoughts from VCU
Well, I'm back the day after VCU and the 5-hour drive home. First off, thanks to our alliance partners #122 and #384, we had lots of fun with you guys
and congratulations to the rest of the finalists. Tons of fun was had by all.Anyhow, down to business. Whenever I had a break from running MOE, I had a chance to watch other team's matches. Did anyone else besides me, there or watching the webcast, notice that a lot of teams lost matches simply because they weren't aware of the score? Many matches could have been won or lost simply by one of the alliance members driving back to their endzone. I know it's harder to see what's going on from the competition station then the stands (our last match, we completely sheared off our middle gripper, and I STILL don't know how ). Just a little advice to teams out there who haven't competed yet... have your advisor or human player sit there and calculate the score constantly. Sometimes, the difference between a victory and a loss is simply one ball. That happened to us as well. There's my thoughts... how about the rest of you? And good luck to everyone out there who still has to compete. I forgot how fun competitions were. |

I completely agree...
In our second quarter final match...it was 31 to 31...but we lost because the opposing alliance had two goals...since i was the acting mentor...i couldnt try to throw a ball...but all in all..it was a lot a of fun Thanks MOE!! Thanks NASA KNIGHTS!! Gabe G. |

Hey MOE, SPARKY ... it really was great working with you guys! I look forward to seeing you guys (MOE) in Philly, we're gonna have some fun! Anyway, I completely agree, I've seen so many matches where it just seems like the coaches/drivers don't know the scoring rules. We were lucky enough to have a calm, patient driver (good job Tom!), and no amount of coaching can take the place of a nice driver.
Stephen, who, btw, was the coach |

GO MOE!!!!
As the other honorary member of MOE, (Yes! I got the cool
bandana!!) Stephen, we may have had a nice patient driver...but I dont think we can say much for the coach or operator... Sparky, sorry bout us dying on your round, but I guess the craziness that went on in round 1 did us in...stupid limit switch!! They are almost as bad as washers.... I cant wait to see everyone in Philly and get my green shirt!!! hehe ![]() |
