Thumbs up Precalcus and YOU!

I'm taking a survey, so if anyone wants to help me out please reply:

What grade were you in when you took Precalc (if you took it)? Does your school have block scheduling?

Thanks all!

Re: Precalcus and YOU!

I took precal in the 10th grade at my school, Gulfport High, and now I am in calculus. I took it a year early. And yes, at Gulfport High we are on the block schedule. The best way I could describe precal is algebra 3, and also its only a 9 weeks course at our school.

I took pre-calc as a junior. No block scheduling where I go.

Re: Precalcus and YOU!

My school is not on block scheduling. I never took Pre-Calc, because my school had the nerve to schedule AP English Language and Pre-Calc during the same period. I took Trig and Anal. Geomerty in 11th grade instead but now I am in AP Calculus.

I am taking precalc now as a junior. I took both Algebra II and geometry last year so I could take precalc this year and take AP Calc my senior year. Most people thought I was crazy, but hey, what is a nerd to do?

Rock on. You're not crazy. Sometimes to get ahead, you have to work harder than everyone else. I'm planning on taking AP tests on subjects not available at my school or that I can't take right now because of scheduling issues. AP Physics, Comparative Politics, U.S. History, and possibly World History.

Re: Precalcus and YOU!

I took PreCalculus Advanced in my junior year of high school...as well as the PreCal Lab (which seems utterly pointless to me, but that's another tale).

And yes, Irmo had block scheduling. A-B scheduling, at that.

Did I mention that I love college?

I took precalc as an Alg II/Trig class (1 year of Alg II the first semester, 1 year of Trig the second semester) in my Sophmore year. We don't have block scheduling.

Thanks for making FIRST such a great experience for me. I'm no longer on 1351, and I'm not currently planning to mentor team 97, but FIRST has meant so much in getting me to where I am now, in life and at MIT, class of 2011.

Re: Precalcus and YOU!

The first time I took precalc was the first semester of my senior year -- no block scheduling, but I graduated at semester and was unable to finish the class.

I'm taking pre-calc again next semester - as a freshman (second semester) in college.

... You might say that math isn't exactly my strongest point ...
