Servo Rotation

My group is planning on using a servo identical to the one in the KoP, along with a Hitec Laser 6 radio control system (for model airplanes). We need the angle of rotation to be greater than 60 degrees. Is there a simple way of doing this?

The angle of rotation of the kit servos is about 300 degrees.

Ok, but how do you get the full 300 degrees of rotation using a hobby shop remote control system? Right now I'm only seeing 60 and adjusting the trims only made the rotation smaller.

As I remember, the servo is about 60 degrees. You need to couple another gear or gearset to get the angle you require. Mechanical linkage works OK too!

Or you could take a file and file off the nub that stops the servo and make it turn 360, basicly making it a motor. Just pop off the top and there is a small tab that conects to the pot I believe is in there and makes it stop. I dont have my modified ones near by to say forsure exactly what to do. But it goes something like that.

Keep in mind that the force exerted by the servo drops off rapidly when the 1/2 angle is greater than 30 deg.

You also might want to replace the pot with a resistor (preferably one that matches the mean resistance of the pot) to prevent drift. However, this will give you a motor with a built-in speed controller, not a servo which can go to a specific position.
