Infra-red info needed

I need some help finding information on how to go about constructing the infra-red stuff to be used by our robots, any information will help.- Thanks

I did this prior to this year's kick off, building two IR Beacons and 4 sensors, but we abandoned coding it while we focus on more important systems for this year.
