College Acceptance?
Some of you must have gotten acceptance letters from colleges by now. Where is everyone going? Anyone for Georgia Tech in Fall? Were looking at having two team next year and possibly a regional. We would love to get more support from incoming freshman with some FIRST experience. Come visit us at Nationals, team 832.

I've been accepted at Rose-Hulman (since not many have heard of it: www.rose-hulman.edu), Worcester Poly Tech, and Virginia Tech. I will likely be attending Rose next year (and even starting a team perhaps), but if I get the WPI (read :whoopie!) scholarship, I'll be more than happy to go there.
who's next? |

I've been accepted to Mary Baldwin College, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and The University of Evansville. I will be attending Evansville in the fall. YAY!
I'm definitely going to attempt to start a FIRST Robotics team while I'm there! |

It looks as thought RIT will be once again involved in FIRST next year (as in with team 73 next year as a major partner). There are already two of us from Parkville (both alumni of the FIRST team there) who attend RIT at the moment.Matt |

So far I've been accepted to Northeastern, Holy Cross, WPI, Syracuse and Fordham, still waiting on word from Cornell. Only about 3 schools have a FIRST team but I'm sure I could start my own team next year. But even if I win the Northeastern full scholarship, I might not attend NU because I also have great scholarships to WPI and Syracuse so far. But it all about Cornell! Go Big Red!!!

(As an aside, if you are interested in engineering, Dave's lab is one of the coolest places around. He runs one of only two research-oriented NBRFs in the country, and the only NBRF in the world at a university. He is also great about pulling undergrads in to help work on his research projects, not just graduate students.) If you don't want to work with a team through the university, you can also sign on with one of the other local teams. There are several within a 20-mile radius of U.Md. The closest is team #53, Eleanor Roosevelt HS and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, about five minutes down the road in Greenbelt Md. Doug Pruitt is the lead teacher and point of contact for the team. -dave ------------------------------------------- Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value. -- Albert Einstein Last edited by dlavery : 03-04-2002 at 23:29. |
