Re: FINALLY! 1293's Window Motor Drivetrain
looks cool... do you have any closeup picture of the drivetrain or just the drivetrain itself... if i could just see the drive train itself, i would probably gain some more knowledge about it... thanks...

Re: FINALLY! 1293's Window Motor Drivetrain
I'll try to get some better shots with a decent camera next week.
Hopefully I can catch them before we start disassembling Bob. |

Re: FINALLY! 1293's Window Motor Drivetrain

Re: FINALLY! 1293's Window Motor Drivetrain
Sorry to contribute to reviving old threads but I haven't seen this before. It is quite interesting. The good thing about it is that I bet it is very controllable and can run all day on a single battery charge.

Re: FINALLY! 1293's Window Motor Drivetrain
Alright, I'll revive it once more.
I FINALLY got some clear, nice pictures of the robot with a real camera. Enjoy: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pi...gle&picid=9531 http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pi...gle&picid=9532 http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pi...gle&picid=9533 Cheers! |

Re: FINALLY! 1293's Window Motor Drivetrain
You will be pushed around on the field and will have almost no toruqe, not to rag on you but last year I made a claw with the window motors and I could stop it with my hand.

Re: FINALLY! 1293's Window Motor Drivetrain
My only question is why go with window motors when there are much stronger motors available? Is it just to be different...? You hit the nail on the head if that's the case

As for why, Ryan, call it rookie desperation. It was week four or five or something like that, and we needed some motors we could mount up and go with. (Like in the original post, we tried the others with only limited success.) Maybe we should've made a bigger to-do at Palmetto, but ah well. It sure was a blast. |

Re: FINALLY! 1293's Window Motor Drivetrain
So using just 2 motors and not much else for your driver train, what's your base weight looking like?

Re: FINALLY! 1293's Window Motor Drivetrain
Well, there were two more levels above it. There's pictures somewhere on www.d5robotics.com if you're interested. (And just a hint of information on Ockham and Hockham, our robot and practice robot for this year.)
Nevertheless, we made weight. No swiss cheese required. |
