Re: pic: Close enough?
that's a little too close I think.. Might have a problem with the motors heating up quickly. Besides that. good job.

Re: pic: Close enough?
That's some pretty hefty plate on the sides, too... how much does that setup weigh?

Re: pic: Close enough?
I really like this team's invisible chassis. I think I know what they are using, but I doubt that transparent aluminum is within the FIRST budget limits.

Re: pic: Close enough?
Yes, although you can't tell from the picture, the set-up is mounted to the frame.
No, we haven't had any heat problems. We've got about 20 minutes run time in various tests, including having one of the team (130 lbs.) ride on it for about 2 minutes. The entire drive train comes in at about 55 lbs.. We tried to get clear aluminum, but it was on back order. They said it would be in by March 3, 2150 Good luck to all! |

Re: pic: Close enough?
Wow, nice job getting the wires out of there. Im scelptical about you getting the motors to run for 20 minutes without heat issues, but who knows. Just be careful, they heat up a lot quicker under large loads(aka a shoving match).

Re: pic: Close enough?
We have the identical setup with the backs of the CIM's backed up into each other. So far no problems especially in 2 minutes

Re: pic: Close enough?
Last year we mounted our two chips pretty close, but not that close. We just had to be a little careful and get some of that really cold compressed air for in between matches. What was really aggrivating was when we had trouble with our transmissions. After a little while we realized the chips were plugged in wrong due to the fact that you couldn't follow the wires very well. So if nothing else i strongly recommend you mark your chips so you can distinguish them just in case.

Re: pic: Close enough?
We didnt run them for 20 minutes straight, he said we've ran them for a total of 20 minutes...including 130 lbs of weight on top for 2 of them........just to clear that up
