Team 279 in the news

We just had our unveiling on Wednesday night and actually were able to get the local newspaper to come out and do a report on it. Over all it turned out pretty well, with the robot only malfunctioning(nice word for breaking) a couple times during operation.(still have a few more bugs to work out)

If you look at the picture in the article you can see our mentor, Bruce Vanisacker, pointing into the robot. Last year Bruce was honored for his involvement in the FIRST program by President Bush, who accidentally said that Bruce had invented FIRST. This little mistake is still quite a big joke around here.

Awesome guys.............good job. Keep working on the flaws, it is a part of the game. I'm pretty much sure that with our robot, we will be adjusting it untill the final game.
Our team was also in the newspaper couple of days ago. But it was Washington Post, Chantilly Times, Centerview, etc.
Mainly becasue our main sponsor, Mr. Rothwell has been awarded as the Educator of the year from the Dulles Chamber of Commerce. Further we just had a articulation agreement with the George Mason University.

Great looking bot! Im glad to see the Tech Fusion still around! You guys started in 1999 right? I remember in 98-99 trying in vain to get Lake High school to start a FIRST team, then after they said no i read in the news about you guys! Now 7 years later im a mentor for Team 1278 (North Royalton HS) on the other side of the state. Atleast im in FIRST somehow!

What regionals are you guys going to?

We will be attending both the Great Lakes and the BUckeye regionals.
