Words that aren't words that should be
I noticed Xufer wants dramastic to be a word, and I've had my own word I've liked for a while. Obnoxion. It's the noun for of obnoxious. SO like, if someone is bothering you can be like, I'm sick of your obnoxions. Or if theres something that bothers you a lot, you could call it an obnoxion as opposed to an annoyance or something. Anyone else got good made up words?

Re: Words that aren't words that should be
I grew up thinking "mummix" was a word. I don't know how many times I heard my mother yell at me for "mummixing" the cats.
Mummix: to hold and squeeze tightly The two words I've made up (and been laughed at something fierce for saying them) are: phrasement and ungrinding. Heidi |

Re: Words that aren't words that should be
2 ones from my life:
Wooty - First used by Rombus in 2004, Wooty is the act of being completely Woot about something. Jo told Rick that they were SkiBoarding this Weekend, Rick responded "WOOTY!" Pedest - The act that a Pedestrian dose. Also known as walking. Will was crossing a street when he was almost hit by a car. He called out "HEY! Im Pedesting here!" |

Re: Words that aren't words that should be
I think combobulate and gruntled both ought to be words, as discombobulate and disgruntled both are. And perhaps undiscombobulate (to fix something that is discombobulated) and recombobulate (something that is combobulated that becomes discombobulated should be able to be recombobulated) as well.
My friends and I had a fun late night conversation one night of build randomly adding on prefixes and suffixes to words. We came up with some interesting ones. antiundisprehyperrobotablefullness. Highly entertaining it was. [EDIT] I forgot about nimsquit - a light hearted insult. And electronical ought to be a word as well. It just sounds nice.[/EDIT] Last edited by Allison K : 01-03-2005 at 00:27. |

Automagically.
I've actually used it on a Lab report before. "Excel then calculates the trend-line automagically". Prof never noticed. -JV |

Re: Words that aren't words that should be
My friends and I have made up a few pretty good words
1. Feep - when you are being deep or profound in a fake way 2. chilm - that annoying cheesy film you get on your hands after eating doritos or smart food popcorn 3. fantabulous - self explanatory |

Re: Words that aren't words that should be
guesstimate....combination of "guess" and "estimate"
redonkulus......combination of "ridiculous" and... well I don't know, but it sounds cool. The first one I owe to my history teacher, Mr. DeMazza. The second one I owe to my precalc teacher, Mr. Fellows. I'll post more if I think of any. ![]() |

Re: Words that aren't words that should be
Fantabulicious - Fantastically fabulously delicious
Glomp - This is in urban dictionary, though I'm not sure if anyone recognzies it as real. A Glomp is a flying tackle hug...i.e... Robotics Kid Rob was so excited to see a female that he glomped her, and thus never saw her again. Ginormous - Gigantically enormous Yumilicious - Self Explantory Frolicification - Frolic in a really awesome way |

Re: Words that aren't words that should be
inside-outable -- i used this for a while until someone pointed out that a shirt is "reversible" not "inside-outable" ...but my word is so much better
telepathetically -- i dunno, i always end up saying this instead of telepathetically. so instead of neha being wrong we should add it to the dictionary man, i can't remember any more. i make up words all the time...i figure, if you can't the perfect word doesn't exist, make it up. i'm actually known for this one word that i used for a presentation in a BEST robotics comptn but i can't pick it out, i guess it's already in my vocabulary Last edited by nehalita : 01-03-2005 at 19:30. |
