Scouting 1251 style
Hey everybody im part of the scouting team on 1251 the TechTigers
as one of the creators of the scouting software we have i have to say that i'm very proud of it because it really helped us come up with strategies and also we helped other teams look at their alience partners and also who they were playing against the system works with a database that constantly gets updated with information about other teams if anybody has any questions about scouting im glad to help or if you want to give me ur bots info i can add your team to the list of 1251 good luck go TechTigers team 1251 Sebas |

Re: Scouting 1251 style
Sebas did a great job on that at Ucf it worked very well. It uses a power ranking system to tell us which bots are the strongest and it very accurate. It predicted with all the input that swampthing and pink were the strongest robots there and it was right. Also ranked us third since we were the finalist allience captian. If anyone is interested in seeing it please ask.

Re: Scouting 1251 style
I'm writing a database/scouting program for our team as well. Can you give me some pointers as to what language you used, what data structures and had functions your program had. Thanks!

the only way you can actually seeit now is if you send me your e-mail address and i can send you some of the print screens i have because the program is way too big to put online and theres also a database behind it helping it run it sebas |

Re: Scouting 1251 style
I know this year our team will be using a more "Sophisticated" scouting program. My Scout team has produced a beta version. As far as i understand the trick behind this is to use a database such as mySQL, Acces.
Last year we used FileMakerPro, but this year we are going with PHP and mySQL, it is really powerful and much easier to program. mySQL has many built in functions such as average, sorting, ranking e.t.c so it makes it very easy. My Scout Leader and another Scouting member are really good designers and the whole layout looks very nice. It works like a charm too. we are currently beta testing it. I also know that 491 and 492 have implemented some great scouting programs. However, if you are new to databases use something like FileMaker pro, or even excel. Start low and then take you skills higher with time. Any questions are welcomed. |
