Are we allowed to sell a software at National?

I am from team 612 in Virginia. We are in the process of developing a really useful software for "Scouting teams". It has a database containing a lot of teams going to nationals, and with that information, it can do a variety of functions. It would be a really good software to use for other teams too. We were thinking of making CDs of it and selling it at nationals. Is there any rule against it in national?

Thanks,
Team 612.

I don't think FIRST would allow you to set up shop and sell any product on the Georgia Dome grounds. Check the rules to confirm this.

As a suggestion, maybe you could set up a little area to GIVE out the cds for the betterment of your fellow FIRST'rs. This would be an awesome plus for you to put on a brag sheet, or something similar. Also, might I suggest possibly putting a donation box next to these CDs?

Re: Are we allowed to sell a software at National?

Yeah. The typical MO here is to give out the CDs. Mostly because it's a good thing to do and helps out other teams. It also makes you look good for awards. It also also could make your robot look better to other teams if you think your robot is the kind missed by scouts but otherwise good.

Mostly, I think you'll be prevented from selling this in the Georgia Dome because most arenas and convention centers have very strict rules regarding vendors. Of any type. So unless you contact them about purchasing a vending license, I think you're out of luck.

you could always try a trade. That's legal, but when you get into physical cash, it raises some questions.
