Go to Post We found our bandsaw on Craigslist for $40. We keep looking for laser cutters and waterjets in that price range, but so far no luck. - chapman1 [more]

Talking Team 357's Animation

Well.. technically its not up yet... but will be, SOON! You can still go to our site @ Http://www.first.udsd.k12.pa.us and tell us what you think. I truthfully think, our animation is one of the best ones i've seen so far, but i think i may have a biased point of view.. I just wish it would have gotten finished for the animation deadlines. It seemed the animator couldn't finish it even with going to bed @ 3 or 4 am each night and still being at school by 7:30am. Heh.. O well.. I think you'll all enjoy it when I finially get a copy to post.

I know what you mean, me and my fellow animator were working on the animation during the march break. We worked practically 14 hour days. I was up at 7 got to his house by 9 or 10, worked until midnight sometimes. Then we managed to fedex it on the friday before it was due. I made a personal note to get started on the animation a lot sooner than what we did this year.

Good luck next year getting that animation in on time. If you'd like a suggestion, try to start working on it early. You can draft up some ideas and storyboards about what to do. Either be it aboot FIRST or your future robot. Based on those storyboards, you could probably start modelling some of the props other than the robot (since you'd have no idea what it would look like). Maybe develop some good looking textures and develop your skills in IK, lighting, particle systems, dynamics, and other special effects.

lol, we're in the same boat as you Quain, this year, it was just two of us animating, and I knew almost nothing of MAX. Since this is my last year, we'll probably have just the one animator working. I'm going to see if I can mentor him though from university.
