Any one have old parts to help a summer program

This summer the camp I am working at is hoping to start a summer program in robotics that would be run in conjunction with its rocketry program. The money the activity would have is going towards Rocketry materials and Lego robot kits.

What I would like to know is if any teams especially established teams have old parts. Things like old RC's, OIs, Victors, spikes, Joysticks(even the junky white ones) Fuse Boards, Main breakers, motors, Anything. We want to get as much as possible as cheap as possible. Due to our lack of a budget I will be paying everything out of pocket and do not have alot of money to waste. Even if it isnt first legal it will work for this. Thankyou in advance for any help you can offer.

James

When is the camp? FIRST has it's yardsale every summer and everything is dirt cheap. If the camp is after the yardsale, you can use a lot of things from that.

Re: Any one have old parts to help a summer program

I think that the best solution for you would be this:

Find the next regional in your area. I don't know eastern regionals, so you're on your own here, as far as I know there's Philly this week and Palmetto the next, and so forth.

Make a list of the teams attending. Write a business letter detailing your program, what things you could need, and a polite request to donate if possible at the regional. It's simpler for a team to deliver stuff to you if they're already going somewhere, than it is for them to ship it to you. Or wait til an off-season comp.

I wish you the best of luck, and remember, even if a team can't help you, you've made them aware of the cause and maybe in the future they can help.

Good luck!
