Hey all you high schoolers-
Just thought I'd help get the word out on this.. Every summer, WPI hosts Frontiers, a two-week summer program for soon-to-be juniors and seniors in various areas of study. Students live on campus for two weeks and get in-depth and hands with an area of study interesting to them.... This year, Robotics has been added.. here's the description of the camp: "Robotics As a FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics participant, you will be taken through recreational robot design and operation, from theory and manufacturing to testing and competition. (This session is particularly useful in preparing participants for entry or leadership within the FIRST Robotics teams in their high schools.) Seminar topics include basic operating principles, driveline design, sensor operation, basic programming and sample mechanisms. The program begins with the presentation of a challenging robotics problem for you to solve by the program's end. The group will be divided into two 15-person teams. During the remaining days in the program, your team will brainstorm, design, build and test its creation. The chance to show your team's design superiority will come when the two robots meet for the climactic, end-of-session tournament!" T190 is proud to be putting on this program and anyone interested should visit the following link for more information: http://www.wpi.edu/Admin/AO/Frontiers/ The program runs from July 6-19. And don't forget Battlecry @ WPI 3- June 15th! For more info visit: http://www.wpi.edu/+battlecry |

I'm currently a high school senior but theres a 80% chance that I will be attending WPI this coming Fall. But since this program is for high school juniors/seniors, I guess that I would not be eligible to attend?

I participated in the program and loved it. I suggest that any incoming senior with even the smallest interest in WPI (or any of the "majors" they offer for the program) to apply.
Its a good time, in both inside and outside the classroom. |

I got an email from WPI about the program and i thought it looked really interesting so i sent my application off on monday of this week. i really want to get into the robotics part of it. the funny thing is that i go to camp here in indiana the saturday i would get back so it would be tight but i cant wait to see what it would be like. Does anyone know when i should expect to get something back? i know that the applications arent due until May 15th but i thought that maybe since i sent mine off sooner that i might get a response earlier. any ideas? So you think indiana is too far away to go to this thing?

Indiana is definately not too far....last summer, some of the crew here drove....yes drove from worcester all the way to kokomo for Hoosier Havoc. 17 hours. We had a good time, and given the chance, we'd do it all over again!

Speaking from experience, you're going to have a blast. I wish everyone who is going the best of luck and hope that they have the time of their life (which you will).
